Characterful 17th Century country farmhouse set down our own quiet lane just off the A38 between M5 J26 (3 miles) and J27 (7 miles). Ideal central base for reaching both the north and south coasts, Somerset Levels, Quantocks, Brendon Hills and Exmoor with the Blackdown Hills only a short ramble away. The house is at the crossroads of 2 public footpaths and there are excellent local walks.

The nearest towns are Taunton (8 miles) and Wellington (1.5 miles) and there are many National Trust and other historic houses, gardens and attractions within easy reach.

Backways Farmhouse is a comfortable old house with inglenook fireplaces, low beams, central heating throughout and views across the fields to the Wellington Monument in one direction and our own cobbled courtyard and stone barns with summer swallows in the other.

The spacious rooms have either a large modern en-suite or a private bathroom and are variously furnished with a sofa, chairs, colour tv and tea/coffee making facility. The guest lounge has a wood burning stove in the inglenook fireplace. A modem point can be arranged for e-mail access. A hearty breakfast with free range eggs from our own chickens and other local produce will set you up for the day.

Guests have a private entrance and are welcome to sit outside and enjoy the garden. There is ample private parking in our courtyard and secure cycle storage in our barns. Please be aware that we are a non-smoking house.
